The March 2021 automotive overview covered a mix of vehicle capabilities and service models. It grouped predictive maintenance, connected homes, automated driving, navigation, vehicle-to-vehicle communication, biometric seats and cars as a service into one industry snapshot.

Connections inside and outside the vehicle

Some examples concerned understanding the car itself, such as using component data to anticipate maintenance. Others connected it to surrounding systems: traffic information, nearby vehicles or devices at home. These applications involve different hardware, communications and software dependencies.

A trend list is not a release schedule

The article brought together established features and developing ideas. Their inclusion did not mean they were equally mature or available in every vehicle. Preserving the 2021 framing helps separate the industry’s expectations from demonstrated deployment. It also shows why automotive software requires attention to the complete system rather than a single feature.
